This summer is sure to be an exciting one for tuna fishing. As most know by now, Nalu Charters will be employing a new vessel for tuna fishing which should up the ante as far as second to none gear and equipment.

Over the last several years I have been fortunate enough to build up a decent amount of repeat business. In addition to the pre-booked dates, I have a certain amount of dates that are open for this summer. These dates usually book up by about the end of February, or March. If you are interested, please e-mail me at Mike@nalucharters.com and I will get back to you as quick as I can.

Here are the specific dates I currently have open for TUNA at this time- UPDATE!- ALL PRE-BOOKED DATES ARE FULL AT THIS TIME! I will have other days that I take trips, but these are the ones that I pre-book first.

Details: The boat operates on a full load basis- meaning 4 customers. Cost per trip is $1200 for the boat- up to 4. I can and WILL put together groups, but the boat must be full to go. Individuals are paired up on open days first to fill a boat.

In the past I have limited the boat to 4 people. With the new boat I will open that up to 5 people ONLY for a group that is all together. Cost for the 5th person is an additional $200.

Trip consists of departing Depoe Bay at first light and heading towards the tuna grounds. Reasonable distance is typically when fish are within 50 miles of port. Depending on the time of year, and the best success style, we employ traditional troll gear, casting gear with conventional, as well as spinning rods, and butterfly jigging. Trips and style is often catered towards the preference of the anglers on board. Each trip can be considered a "seminar" in that everything is attempted to be explained, and rationale for "why" we fish the way we do is gone over. Fish are bled, iced, and stored in such a way as to keep the catch quality premium.

Vessel: The charter vessel is a 2005 Grady White 282 powered by twin Yamaha 224 four stroke outboards. A full complement of safety gear including a 12" chartplotter, EPIRB, raft, and communication is aboard and available. There is seating for 6 people, and plenty of storage. For those that operate their own boat or are looking to learn how to tuna fish, Nalu Charters offers a premium experience that closely matches the style of a recreational vessel.

Gear: Top quality tackle and gear is supplied. G Loomis troll rods matched with Penn 16VSX 2 speed reels, G Loomis casting and spinning rods matched with Shimano Saragosa 8000 spinning reels or Shimano Tyrnos 10 conventional reels. For Butterfly Jigging Shimano Trevala F-Series rods matched to Shimano Trinidad 16N reels round out the gear. All of the gear is hand picked to provide the very best performance and action available.

So, Summer 2010 may seem like a long way away... but we're getting ready now. One thing that I am fortunate with is the ability to fill my available days, so if anyone from here is interested, now would be the time. This year with the new ride, and new gear once again- it's going to be awesome!
